If you’re looking for a different destination which has outstanding beauty, a naturally rugged landscape and the opportunity to see one of the most diverse areas for animals, flora and fauna then look no further than the Smoky Mountains.

This mountain range is situated on the Tennessee border with North Carolina, its official name is the Smoky Mountains but most people simply refer to it as the Smokies.

Staying in The Smoky Mountains

You’ll need to stay somewhere to really appreciate the beauty of this area; this is not a place you can truly appreciate it just one day. Fortunately it’s easy to locate a motel in Maggie Valley. Whether you want to try your hand in the rapid waters of Jonathan Creek, test your skill at fishing or indulge in some high octane skiing; you’ll find what you’re looking for here. All within a stone’s throw of comfortable and modern rooms.

Of course, Wi-Fi comes as standard to ensure you can share your adventures with your friends back home!

Pick the right motel and you won’t need to leave your room to discover some of the most fantastic sunsets, (and sunrises), in the world.

But this is not the only beauty you’ll experience in the Smoky Mountains!

Animal Life

The brown bear is a clever and surprisingly shy creature. You’ll need to take the appropriate safety measures when you see them but they are worth watching.

You can also find white tailed deer, coyotes, ground hogs and even some turkeys. If you’re really attentive you sot the raccoons and skunks!

Be Active

The best way of exploring and witnessing the beauty of the Smokies is on foot. There are excellent hiking trails which will ensure you see all the stunning waterfalls, lakes, wildlife and the stars; as you’ve never seen them before. The nights are clear and devoid of natural light; allowing the night sky to really come to life.

If the thought of hiking is too much, then you can also use a bike or enjoy the sights on the back of a horse.

In fact, you can use the Foothills Parkway to see a large area of the Smoky Mountains from your car; with some truly stunning viewing spots.

The highest point in the Smoky Mountains is Clingmans Dome. It towers above you at 6,643 feet high. It’s worth noting this is the highest point in Tennessee.

From the top you’ll be able to see the whole of the Smoky Mountains; in all directions!

The beauty of the Smoky Mountains can also be experienced while swimming in one of the many lakes or simply enjoying a picnic outside your motel.

There really is something for everyone to do and the views you’ll see will stay with you for a lifetime. But the beauty of these mountains is more than just the scenery; it’s the feeling of being at one with nature and truly being able to unwind from modern life; even if it’s just for a few days.
